Me, I just heard about it yesterday, so here I am sharing the news.

Swordigo’s feature list is sort of generic, and the website says absolutely nothing about the game’s plot, so I’ll simply observe that it looks a lot like a modern take on Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, minus the overworld. Check out the trailer and see for yourself:

The app is currently free for a limited time; after today, it reverts to its normal price (which I can’t seem to find anywhere). Nab it here.

Age of Decadence has had a combat demo out for quite some time, but this latest demo release isn’t just battling–this one is the real deal. From my brief time with it, I can confirm that there are elaborate branching quests, dialog choices, a whole slate of skills to choose from, and numerous skill-checks that open up new ways of approaching different situations.

Go ahead and download it, see what you think. (It seems the game is Windows-only, unfortunately, given that it’s running in Torque.) The full game is due for release in Spring 2013. If you’re moved to support the developers in advance of that date, you can pre-order Age of Decadence right here.

You may recall Cohorts of Kargonar, a game announced only one month ago after four long years in development. As of right now, you can officially go ahead and start playing it for the low low price of absolutelynothing. (Which is to say, it’s free.) Cohorts of Kargonar is a browser-based MMORPG, so all you’ll need to do is register.

In case you forgot what made this game interesting, here’s a recap:

Cohorts of Kargonar features pleasant 2D graphics, turn-based party-based combat, skill tree progression, class promotion, quests with multiple endings, and a village-building mechanic that basically lets you create your own home town. You can visit other players’ villages too

I haven’t played it yet, so I don’t have any impressions to offer just now. Have you played it? Feel free to say what you think in the comments, or on the forums.

Jay Barnson, the indie developer working on the RPG Frayed Knights, is having a giveaway tomorrow on indie titles from his games store. (He mostly sells indie RPGs, so this is a good opportunity for people looking to expand their knowledge of the oeuvre.)

The contest rules follow:

I’d like to do a post with people’s silly little ideas of “X Reasons Why Indie Games Rock.” 101 reasons, if we can swing it. I’d like you guys to help come up with that list. I’m looking for little one liners that may be pithy, poignant, silly, sarcastic, but most of all entertaining. From your perspective. Stuff like:

Indie Games Rock Because:

Big Pixels are Sexy!

They aren’t afraid of letting you play it before deciding to pay for it.

The next time I’m locked inside somebody’s hotel room, I’ll be fully trained on how to escape!

Please include your alias / nickname (I’ll be attributing each one, if I can), and your email address so I can contact you if you win. Submissions must be received by the end of the day on April 1st, and I’ll announce the winner the next day.

…

The winner will chosen by an entirely partial and opinionated and unfair judge – ME. In the case of duplicate (or extremely similar) submissions, I’ll go with whichever one I received first.

I will buy the winner any digital download from the Rampant Games website. (Yes, I’m just an affiliate, so I do have to buy ‘em too…) Plus I’ll throw in a couple of licenses of Void War, because I can. Plus a copy each for two runners-up.

April 1st is tomorrow, so if you want to enter, you should get cracking!
