Telepath RPG: Servants of God release date announced

Sinister Design has just posted an official release date for the up-and-coming Middle-Eastern-steampunk strategy RPG Telepath RPG: Servants of God. It appears that you’ll be able to get your hands on the finished game starting on February 14, 2012. (Valentine’s Day! Awwww.)

Windows users, Mac users and Linux users alike will be able to purchase the game for a handsome $24.95 (though you can also pre-order to start playing it now if you’re impatient).

there is only one week left to pre-order Telepath RPG: Servants of God, their Adobe Air-powered JRPG/WRPG crossbreed, for the initial price of $19.95 (it jumps $5 next week). Chances are that you won’t see it at its current price again until well after its release, so you may want to consider springing on it now.

However, if you want to know what you’re getting yourself into first, you should try your hand at the updated demo while perusing their web-based guide to ensure that you’re able to get it up and running, and running smoothly.

The game’s price will jump to $24.95 next Tuesday, so that should give you a solid 6 days to decide if you want to nab it at a discount.

Telepath RPG: Servants of God Update

Indie tactical RPG Telepath RPG: Servants of God has gotten a major update. The biggest change is that the game now uses AIR, meaning that it now runs in Windows, Mac and Linux. However, other new features (such as drug use addiction and withdrawal) have been added to the game as well.

Here’s the blurb from the developer’s website:

This build features a ton of improvements to the game–so many that I can’t get into them all here–but here are a few:

The Crypt of the Poet King is now finished, and boy is it ever a nasty one.

My favorite new feature is that your character can now use drugs and (depending on your luck) get addicted, suffering prolonged withdrawal effects if he goes too long without a hit. (Don’t do drugs, kids!)

You can now swap out orbs between battles.

There’s new music in the game that plays during the battle preparation screen.

There are a ton of bug fixes.

The game engine now officially supports voiced dialog.

Did I mention that Mac and Linux owners can now play the game off their hard drives? Because they can. And it’s awesome.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Telepath RPG: Servants of God, here’s a trailer showing off the game. It’s scheduled for release at the end of this year.

First, full disclosure: this is my game. That having been said, this is legit news that’s been posted elsewhere. To avoid the appearance of impropriety, I’ll just quote RPGWatch:

Craig Stern from Sinister Design dropped us a line to say they have released a demo for their indie game, Telepath RPG: Servants of God. I can’t see a general release date yet but here’s the feature list and there’s a video clip on the site. This is part of a series we’ve mentioned before and Craig says they’ve been working on it for a couple of years, so take a look.

Part Japanese strategy RPG, part free-roaming Western RPG, there is no RPG out there quite like Telepath RPG: Servants of God. The finished game will feature:

* A narrative about identity, the nature of the mind, and the existence of God

* Dialog choices that have real in-game consequences

* Furious tactical turn-based combat

* Psychic powers that affect the game both on and off the battlefield

* A party of interesting characters that you can choose to grow close with or alienate.
